As a continuation of the measures taken by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan to harmonize the workforce skills with the requirements of the labour market, 3 911 persons have been involved in vocational training and further education courses in 2017, being 209 people or 5.6 percent more than in the previous year.
Vocational training and further training courses have been organized for 3 561 citizens of those persons (including 82 persons with disabilities) by the State Employment Service under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population. And during the reporting period, 350 young people have been admitted to vocational training courses of the Vocational Rehabilitation Center for young people with limited health No. 1 of the State Social Protection Fund under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population.
Overall, 432 people of those involved in vocational training and further education courses last year were composed of persons with disabilities.
Accountant operator, construction painter, electric and gas welder, carpenter-joiner, computer user, confectioner, tailor, beekeeper, carpet maker, furniture fitter, car repairman and other professions have been taught in the courses. The training of many professions has been carried out on the basis of modular training programs, which has enabled them to be taught more easily and optimally.
Career-oriented events to direct young people to the professions and qualifications accordance with the requirements of the labour market were also continued last year. Information on current situation in the labour market, the demands of the employers for professions and qualifications, employment services, career-oriented advice has been given to 105, 3 thousand young people in career-oriented events organized by the State Employment Service, mainly with the participation of upper-class students of secondary schools.
